Naíonra na Dromoda was founded in 2004 and was initially funded by EOCP (Equal Opportunities Childcare Programme). The founders of this naíonra understood the importance of early education and the essential role it plays in supporting Irish through generations. 

This facility is open from 8-30am to 5-30pm Monday to Friday and offers care for 4 months – 12 year olds. Care for primary school children is offered in the afternoons. The naíonra offers preschool education every morning through the medium of Irish. There is an average of 30 children using the childcare facility on a weekly basis. 

These services are provided for us by Comhar Naíonraí na Gaeltachta, which is the nationally recognised Early Years Service Provider throughout the Gaeltacht of Ireland. The naíonra provides early education that develops the emotional, social, physical and cognitive skills of each child. This is done in a playful and creative environment, that is welcoming, motivating, supportive, safe, healthy and positive. 

Comhar Naíonraí na Gaeltachta services use Irish exclusively, engaging children, parents and staff. They implement programmes like Lonnir, Aistear, Borradh and Síolta for holistic child development, focusing on Irish language enrichment, acquisition and promoting it’s natural usage, with an emphasis on local dialects.

We offer activities such as drama, crafts and music to boost young people’s independence and cultural pride, alongside diverse educational resources.
