DAY CARE CENTRE
From Ionad na Dromoda we are now providing an Outreach Service. This service is to provide care and recreation during the day for senior citizens and people with physical or learning disabilities which then in turn offer the carers a respite period whereby they are able to have a few hours to themselves to do with as they wish.
The Day Care Centre’s aims are to provide a service for those in our care, whereby they will get social stimulation, maintain and try to improve their levels of independence and skills they already have. Throughout the day we will provide different activities to keep them stimulated, such as arts & crafts, games, baking, exercise among others, and outdoor activities where possible.
If you are interested in using any of these services or have any questions please contact our Centre Manager June Collins on 066-9478669
June Collins is the part Time Manager of Ionad Lae na Dromoda. She is helped by participants of the Rural Social Scheme and by a participant on the Clár Séirbhísí Pobail.
If any of our seniors are interested in joining the programme all they have to do is contact June Collins on 066 9478669.
The Health Service Executive provide funding to meet the costs of the meals and Kerry Education Service help to fund the exercise programme. The building was financed by the Dept. of the Environment, Údarás na Gaeltachta and the Health Service Executive.
BRUACH NA HAOINE-SOCIAL HOUSING PROJECT
Our housing project is well established. It was completed in June 2006 and all six houses are occupied. The tenants are all doing very well. There are five 2 bedroomed houses and one 3 bedroomed which is the caretakers house. Some of our residents have located here through the Safe Home programme. This is a programme for people who wish to return to their native place but don’t have the resources to do so.
Cumann Tithíochta na Dromoda wish to acknowledge funding received from the following agencies for this housing and day care project the Dept. of the Environment, Kerry County Council, Údarás na Gaeltachta and the HSE.
The poly tunnel has been erected and the tenants are busy planting. Gardening will be a healthy activity for the elderly residents and participants in the Programme for the Elderly.
